Awami League to hold poll talks with Bikalpa Dhara today

The ruling Awami League  to hold dialogue with Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh of Dr AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury  today over the next general election.

Earlier on Tuesday, Bikalpa Dhara sent two letters to Awami League, requesting the party to take initiative for a dialogue.

Bikalpa Dhara leaders Abdur Rouf Mannan and Omar Faruq handed over the letters to the Awami League president and the general secretary in the evening.

Awami League joint general secretary Abdur Rahman received the letters.    

“Dialogue would be held with any party except anti-liberation forces,” he said.

Dr Badruddoza welcomed Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for taking initiative for holding dialogue with political parties over the election issue. He also expressed his desire to join the talks.

In the letter, the BDB president wrote to the prime minister, “There is no alternative to dialogue for resolving the political crisis.”

“In the current situation, if we get your (PM) time and invitation for sitting for a political dialogue with you, we will be happy,” B Chowdhury said.

In response to Dr Badruddoza’s letters, Awami League leaders Dr Hasan Mahmud and Asim Kumar Ukil handed over a letter of the prime minister, inviting him to a dialogue.

The talks will be held at the prime minister’s official residence Ganabhaban at 7:30pm in the capital on November 2.
