The Election Commission on Sunday evening received the police report along with photos and video footages collected from electronic and print media regarding last Wednesday's violence in front of BNP’s Nayapaltan Central Office.

An official of the Election Commission (EC) wishing anonymity said Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) sent the report along with video footages and photos.

Earlier, the EC sent the letter to the Police Headquarters to send an investigation report over the incident. The letter also instructed police not to harass or arrest innocent people in connection with the violence. Responding to the letter, the DMP sent the sealed report along with video footages and photos, said the EC official.

Replying to a question, he said the commission will take the necessary decisions based on the report.

At least 50 people, including 23 police, were injured in the clash between the BNP leaders and activists and police in front of the party's Nayapaltan central office on the third day of the party's nomination form sale.

Police lobbed teargas shells, rubber bullets and charged batons while two police cars were torched during the clash.

Three separate cases were filed in connection with the incident.  At least 65 people, who were arrested from the area during and after the clash, were shown arrested in the cases.

Detective Branch of the DMP arrested BNP's central executive committee leader Nipun Roy Chowdhury from the city's Kakrail on Thursday evening in connection with the clash.
