BNP instigating a civil war: Obaidul

Ruling Awami League’s General Secretary ObaidulQuaderhas alleged that opposition BNP is instigating a civil war by calling people to guard polling centres.

Obaidul, also road transport and bridges minister, passed the comment at an international seminar at a hotel in Dhaka.

“Oikyafront and BNP are pushing the country towards a civil war as they are delivering attacking speeches,” the daily quoted him as saying.

“They are saying that 300 to 400 leaders and activists of the alliance will take position at each centres on the parliamentary election day,” he said.

“If Awami League activists also take position, will not be a civil war?” he asked.

Obaidul also alleged that the activities of the Oikyafront are being controlled from London. BNP is using its top leaders including Dr Kamal Hossain, he added.
