Disgraced former minister Abdul Latif Siddique on Sunday hinted that he is likely to contest the upcoming parliamentary elections from Tangail-4 (Kalihati) constituency as an independent candidate.

The suspended Awami League leader came up with the remarks in a press conference at his house on Sunday.

The formal decision will be disclosed after November 27, he said. November 28 is the last date for submitting nominations to the Election Commission.

“The nation is familiar with the leaders of Jatiya Oikyafront very well. Everyone knows what Oikyafront’s BNP did while in power. People won’t be benefitted by them,” he said.

Responding to a query, Siddique said “People and leaders of Kalihati don’t place any trust in the candidate selected by the Awami League. So I want to step forward in the election being under the pressure of people’s love.”
