The ruling Awami League today termed the Jatiya Oikyafront’s manifesto as a joke with the nation saying that its pledge to continue the war crimes trial and drive against corruption is unbelievable.

“They (Oikyafront) are contesting the polls sharing Sheaf of Paddy symbol with war criminals. They are patronising the war criminals. How will they continue the war crimes trial? It is nothing but unbelievable and ridiculous,” Awami League Joint General Secretary Abdur Rahman said.

Abdur Rahman came up with the remarks responding to a query at a press conference at party President Sheikh Hasina’s Dhanmondi political office in Dhaka this noon.

Jatiya Oikyafront leader Mahmudur Rahman Manna today revealed their 35-point election manifesto, with various commitments including continue war crimes trial and drive against corruption, at a hotel in Dhaka this noon.

Claiming that there are war criminals within the Oikyafront, Abdur Rahman said their leader Khaleda Zia is now serving jail term on corruption charges.

“The word of building a corruption free country is indecorous in their mouths,” the Awami League leader said.
