Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda on Thursday urged everyone who will be involved in the vote counting process, including the result management system, to remain on high alert.

He made the plea while briefing officials at a workshop on Election Management System (EMS), Candidate Information Management System (CIMS) and Result Management System (RMS) software at Election Training Institute (ETI) at the city’s Nirbachan Bhaban in the morning.

The CEC said everything the EC has prepared throughout the year will rest upon the hands of the officials who will be involved in the result counting. “Even the slightest mistake can cause a great disaster… so you should remain alert,” he said.

Nurul Huda also mentioned that the highest number of training courses have been arranged for the polling agents of different political parties so that they can understand their rights and responsibilities. "All this is for a fair election," he said.

The CEC also suggested if any issue arises on the voting day, one should inform the returning officer from the polling booth immediately instead of informing the commissioner.

Claiming that every political party are joining the election in a festive mood, the CEC reaffirmed that the polls will be fair.

He also requested all involved in the voting process to perform their duties properly to ensure a free and fair election.

Election Commission Secretary Helaluddin Ahmad and EMS, CIMS and RMS software instructors were also present at the event.
