Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda today gave instruction to the law enforcing agencies to maintain the law and order situation with an iron fist if there is any incident of violence during tomorrow’s election.

The CEC said this while addressing a press briefing at the Nirbachan Bhaban this afternoon, a day before the general election.

“If we find any negligence or insincerity during polls-time duty, we will take legal action against them after investigation,” he said.

All involved with the 11th national elections have been instructed to work neutrally so that the election does not become questionable, he said.

He also asked the law enforcers to stay careful so that no candidate does not become victims of any kind of harassment.

About the violence during the electioneering, the EC chief said, “Incidents of violence during the election campaign was unexpected”.

“Don’t harass the poling agents if there is no specific allegation against them,” he said while giving directives to the law enforcers.
