KOICA ready to help improve traffic system in Bangladesh

Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) has shown interest to improve Bangladesh’s traffic management system to help ease traffic congestions in the country, especially in the capital city.

Visiting KOICA President Lee Mi-kyung shared the idea during her meeting with Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal held on Monday evening in the city’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area saying this is a problem which they had too and it has a solution.

The KOICA President reiterated the commitment of Korean government to catalyse socio-economic development for the people of Bangladesh through Korean aid agency KOICA.

KOICA is supporting the government of Bangladesh to implement 7th five-year plan and achieve SDGs, focusing the priorities areas of education, transportation, public health and ICT (innovation).

The Finance Minister termed Bangladesh the best destination for foreign investment and sought increased Korean investment in the country.

He also said it is difficult to suffer losses by investing in Bangladesh as profit is a must if anyone makes investment here.

Mi-kyung also thanked Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the people of Bangladesh for the generosity shown towards Rohingya people and assured of extending support to them.

KOICA President arrived here on Sunday to discuss development cooperation between Bangladesh and South Korea through KOICA and visit Rohingya camps in Cox's Bazar.

She is leading a nine-member high-level delegation.

It is the first-ever visit of KOICA’s President in Bangladesh after starting its programme here since 1993.
