Wife, her lover held for ‘killing husband’ in Satkhira

Police arrested two people including a woman in connection with the recovery of a body at Keuratala in Debhata upazila on Wednesday.

The arrestees were identified as Asma Khatun, 22, wife of the deceased Ali Hossain and her lover Jakir Hossain of the village.

Akbar Ali, a member of Sakhirpur Union Parishad, said Ali had married Asma seven years back and the couple had been blessed with a four-year-old boy.

Asma had developed an extramarital relationship with Jakir, he said.

Biplab Kumar Saha, officer-in-charge of Debhata Police Station, said Ali Hossain might have been killed over his wife’s extra marital relationship.

Earlier on Wednesday, police recovered the throat-slit body of Ali Hossain from a fish enclosure in the upazila.
