Gonoforum lawmaker-elect Sultan Mohammad Mansur has said that he and the other elected candidate of his party will join the parliament.

“We will take oath and join the parliament,” he said today amid widespread talks in the political arena on Oikyafront’s stand in this issue.

Gonoforum took part in the election as a key component of major opposition coalition Jatiya Oikyafront which included the major opposition BNP.

The party won two seats – Mansur in Moulvibazar-2 and Mokabbir Khan in Sylhet-2 – while BNP won six constituencies. Ruling Awami League alliance won 289.

However, BNP has been alleging of mass rigging and has been keeping off from joining the parliament despite rumours that Oikyafront stood divided.

Though Gonoforum’s leader Dr Kamal Hossain had once hinted of joining the parliament, he was silenced after BNP took the matter up to him.

Today, Sultan Mansur, former vice-president of Ducsu, told The Daily Star that Gonoforum MPs-elect want to play a pro-people role in the parliament.
