‘Canada wants transitional plan for Rohingya’

Canada wants a transitional plan for the Rohingya before they are repatriated safely and sustainably to Myanmar.

“Not short or long-term, we need to make a transitional plan for the Rohingya,” said Bob Rae, Canadian prime minister’s special envoy to Myanmar.

He was speaking at a panel on the Rohingya crisis at the Westin Hotel Dhaka organised by the Canadian High Commission in Bangladesh.

Bob Rae said the Rohingya children should be provided education, skills and means of survival.

Otherwise, there are potentials that they turn to crimes and radicalisation that has far more impacts in the region, he said.
