Bangladesh elected vice president of Unicef board

Bangladesh has been elected as a member and vice president of the executive board of Unicef this year.

The announcement came after the First Regular Session 2019 of the executive board of Unicef, says a press release of permanent mission of Bangladesh at the UN issued today.

Unicef’s Executive Director Henrietta Fore and newly elected its Executive Board president, Permanent Representative of Sudan to the UN, Omer Dahab Fadl Mohamed addressed at the opening session.

“Bangladesh has made considerable progress in protecting and promoting child rights,” said permanent representative of Bangladesh to the UN, Masud Bin Momen.

He highlighted strides Bangladesh has taken in reducing child mortality, malnutrition, increasing school enrolment, distributing free textbooks and others.

Ambassador Momen acknowledged the support provided by Unicef to Bangladesh for the traumatised and forcibly displaced Rohingya children and women.

He mentioned about Unicef’s role to reduce the disparity between children of under-developed and children of developed countries.
