2 cops held after probe body finds evidence

Two police officers were held early today on charge of raping a woman, a day after a probe committee formed to investigate the incident primarily found proof of the allegation.

The 22-year-old woman filed a case against Sub-inspector Sekendar Hossain and Assistant Sub-inspector Mazharul Islam with Saturia Police Station last evening.

“We are preparing to produce the accused police officers before a court soon,” said Hafizur Rahman, additional superintendent of police (Sadar circle) in the district.

Hafizur Rahman, also head of the probe body, said the committee members had enquired about the allegation and talked to the victim yesterday.

Earlier, both the officers of Saturia Police Station have been withdrawn and attached to Manikganj Police Lines following the allegation.
