'Robber’ killed in ‘gunfight’ with cops in Dhaka

A suspected robber was killed in a reported gunfight with police in Gopibagh Railgate area of Dhaka at the wee hours of today.
The deceased was identified as Shanto, 18.
On information that a gang of robber was taking preparation to commit robbery in the area, police conducted a drive there around 11:30 pm last night, said Sub-inspector Mofiz Uddin of Wari Police Station.
When the team reached there, the robbers swooped on the law enforcers, prompting them to fire back that triggered the “gunfight”.
Shanto was hit by a bullet while two policemen also suffered injuries during the incident.
Later, Shanto was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he died around 7:00am.
Police also arrested an alleged robber from the spot.
