HC turns down petition challenging MPs’ oath-taking

The High Court on Monday turned down a writ petition filed challenging the legality of oath taking by lawmakers elected in the December 30 general election.

The bench of Justice Sheikh Hassan Arif and Justice Razik-Al-Jalil passed the order.

Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon stood for the petitioner while deputy attorney general Mukhlesur Rahman for the state.

Earlier on February 6, the High Court set February 18 (today) to pass its order on the writ.

Supreme Court lawyer Tawhidul Islam filed the writ on January 20.
