7 ‘fake voters’ fined in Sylhet

A mobile court today fined seven people for allegedly attempting to cast fake votes at a voting centre in Companyganj upazila of Sylhet during the second phase election to 116 upazila parishad this morning.

Executive Magistrate AC Land Masud Rana of Companyganj fined five male and two female “fake voters” a total of Tk 5,000 at Doloir Gaon Government Primary School centre, said the magistrate.

They were caught around 11:00am before they could cast the fake votes, three hours into the beginning of the voting, the executive magistrate added.
