Bangladeshi Christchurch victim’s body to come home today

Body of Omar Faruk, one of the five Bangladeshi victims of mosque massacre in New Zealand's Christchurch, is set to reach his home soil in Narayanganj today.

A Singapore Airlines flight carrying his body is scheduled to land at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 10:30pm, Sarwar Hosen, brother-in-law of Faruk, said.

The Singapore Airlines authorities have also confirmed about it to the victim's family members, he said this morning.

According to a reports, 41 people were shot dead as a “white supremacist” indiscriminately attacked unarmed devotees at the Al Noor Mosque on Friday, March 15.

Seven more were killed in the neighbouring Linwood Mosque where the terrorist conducted his second attack.

Later, one died after taking to Christchurch Hospital and another was discovered at the crime scene, making the death toll 50.

Among them, the identities of the five Bangladeshi nationals are: Omar Faruk, of Narayanganj; Mojammel Haque, of Chandpur; Zakaria Bhuiyan, of Narsingdi; Dr Abdus Samad, Prof of Department of Agronomy at Bangladesh Agriculture University; Hosne Ara Ahmed, of Sylhet.
