Several injured after jumping off FR Tower to escape Banani fire

A number of people jumped off FR Tower in a desperate bid to save their lives from the blaze as the multi-storey building caught fire, according to witnesses.

They said the people trapped there jumped out of the building as they found no option to escape.

When they fell to the ground, waiting people rescued them immediately and the injured were taken by ambulance to different hospitals.

Fire broke out at the multi-story building FR Tower in the city's Banani area at 12:45pm on Thursday.

Many people were inside the the building which houses mostly offices, witnesses said.

According to the control room of fire service, fire fighters rushed to the spot and were fighting hard to douse the inferno and rescue people.

A total of 17 fire fighting units were working to extinguish the fire. Navy fire team and Air Force also joined the rescue operation.

FR Tower, at least a 17-storey edifice, is situated on Kemal Ataurk Avenue in Banani.
