4 injured as jute mill workers clash with police in Khulna

Clashes sparked between the workers of the state owned jute mills in Khulna district and police on Thursday morning, injuring at least 4.

Four members of police were injured in the clashes and undergoing treatment at a hospital in Khula.

The clash took place at Daulatpur in the Khulna city around 10:00am on Thursday.

Eyewitnesses said that workers were demonstrating protest at the Natun Road intersection blocking railroad and highway. Suddenly clashes erupted between the police and the agitated workers.

Mostaq Ahmed, office-in-charge of Daulatpur police station said, “Police were on duty for ensuring the safety of the workers like the previous days. Suddenly, workers assaulted on the police. Police took shelters in the nearest police box, which was also vandalized by the agitating workers. They even vandalized the ambulance coming for the rescue of the injured police.”
