Prime Minister mourns death of firefighter Sohel

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of firefighter Sohel Rana.

Sohel Rana, who sustained serious injuries during the rescue operation at FR Tower, died at a hospital in Singapore early Monday.

In a condolence message, the Prime Minister said Sohel Rana will remain as a "bright example" of sacrificing own life for saving lives of others.

Sheikh Hasina prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed profound sympathy to the bereaved family.

Sohel Rana, a fireman of Kurmitola Fire Station, sustained serious injuries while saving people trapped inside FR Tower in Banani in the capital following a devastating fire there on March 28.

After the incident, he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka.

Later, Sohel Rana was sent to Singapore by an air ambulance at the directives of the Prime Minister for his better treatment.

The FR Tower inferno claimed 26 lives and left around 100 injured.
