Fakhrul among five BNP MPs-elect waiting for Tarique’s green signal

Five Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) MPs-elect including BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir expressed their willingness to take oath as members of parliament.  

They already informed party’s high command about their willingness on Sunday night.

However, BNP held it emergency standing committee meeting on Sunday night at BNP chairperson’s political office in Gulshan.  BNP MPs-elect joined the meeting.
BNP Senior Vice Chairman Tarique Rahman joined the meeting over skypee video conference.

Md Aminul Islam and Harun-or-Rashid, BNP MP-elects from Chapai Nawabganj-2 and chapai Nawabganj-3 constituencies respectively, sought the permission from the standing committee to take oath as members of parliament, party source said.

Tarique Rahman took time till Monday afternoon (4:00pm) to take his decision on oath-taking of BNP five MP-elects.

If Tarique gives green signal, five BNP MP-elects may take oath, party source said.

Ukil Abdus Sattar, MP-elect from Brahmanbaria-2 constituency, told journalists, “Our party will give its final decision on our oath-taking on Monday.”

When asked about the oath-taking as MP, Harun-or-Rashid, BNP MP-elects from Chapai Nawabganj-3, expressed his unwillingness to talk to the journalists.
