A High Court bench on Monday voiced discontent at Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (WASA) for not conforming with its order to examine water in different areas of Dhaka.

The court said 22 bottles of water from 11 zones in Dhaka are needed for the water test. “How much money the committee needs for testing 22 bottles of water,” the court questioned.

The HC bench of Justice JBM Hasan and Justice Justice Md Khairul Alam came up with the observation following a report submitted last week by a committee formed to examine Wasa water.

The court’s dissatisfaction came after a writ petitioner today submitted a report to it saying that water supplied by Wasa is vulnerable in 16 areas of Dhaka including Jurain, Pallabi, Mirpur, Mohammadpur and Postogola.

On May 8, the High Court sought information about the areas of Dhaka that are being supplied with contaminated and unsafe water by Wasa.
