Body formed to remove illegal vehicles, free footpaths in Dhaka

A special committee led by Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sayeed Khokon has been formed to remove illegal vehicles off the streets and free footpaths from grabbers in next two months.

The committee was formed to ease Dhaka dwellers from traffic jams, Road, Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader told journalists after a meeting in this regard this afternoon.

The mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), representatives from police and Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) have been included in the committee, Quader said.

At the 12th board meeting of Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority (DTCA) the committee was formed today, he said.

The committee will identify and remove illegal vehicles including battery-run rickshaws and CNG-run auto-rickshaws from the streets of Dhaka, the minister added.
