Rifat killing: 13 people identified, Home minister says

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has said that investigators have been able to identify thirteen alleged killers in connection with the murder of Barguna youth Rifat Sharif who was hacked to death in broad daylight in front of his wife on Wednesday.

The minister also said police have already arrested three people in connection with the murder.

Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal came up with the update while talking to reporters after attending a programme at old central Jail on Najimuddin Road of Dhaka on Friday morning.

Terming the killing of Rifat Sharif in broad daylight unfortunate, the minister said none of those involved in the murder will be spared.

Earlier, police issued red alert on Friday morning at all international airports, land and riverports across the country so that the killers of Rifat Sharif cannot escape arrest by crossing the border.

Rifat Sharif, 22, was hacked to death by miscreants in front of the main gate of Barguna College Wednesday afternoon.

The incident was captured on a surveillance camera which showed miscreants hitting Rifat indiscriminately while his wife was desperately trying to save him.

Dulal Sharif, Rifat's father, filed a case against 12 people on Thursday.
