A court in Dhaka on Tuesday sent Khandaker Enamul Basir, suspended director of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), to prison after rejecting his bail plea in a case filed over the transaction of Tk 40 lakh as bribe.

Judge KM Emrul Kayesh of the Senior Special Judges Court of Dhaka issued the order after the ACC produced him before it and appealed to the court to send him to jail.
The suspended ACC director was arrested in the city’s Mirpur area by a team of ACC officials led by Director Sheikh Fanafillah Bawas on Monday on charges of bribery.

Confirming the matter, ACC spokesman Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told media that a probe team of the commission led by Sheikh Md Fanafilya detained Basir from Darus Salam on Monday night.

Earlier, ACC probe team found evidences against suspended Basir of taking bribes from suspended DIG Mizanur Rahman.

After being arrested Basir was taken to Ramna Police Station at 11:35pm tonight, he added.

On July 16, ACC filed a money laundering case against Mizanur Rahman and Enamul Basir charging Tk four million bribery transactions.
