The number of dengue patients in the country is increasing, according to media report.

As per the official records till Monday, dengue patients were admitted to hospitals in 50 districts.

Further investigations, however, show that dengue patients were undergoing treatment at hospitals of some other districts.

The health emergency operations centre and control room revealed that till Monday, outside of the capital, 531 dengue patients were admitted to various hospitals of the country.

However, a Bengali daily reported that other than this, there are dengue patients in hospitals of Faridpur, Barguna, Magura, Mymensingh, Habiganj and Sunamganj districts.

The report of the daily also said that no dengue patients were found in Bandarban, Meherpur, Narail, Joypurhat and Netrakona.

The health directorate said that till Monday, 3547 dengue patients were admitted to hospital. Of this, 1096 were admitted within 24 hours.

The health directorate received information of only 35 private hospitals in Dhaka in addition to the government ones. There are 350 private hospitals in the capital. That means the number of dengue patients is much higher than official data.

The health directorate’s records till Monday listed 13,639 dengue patients in the country.
