Govt cancels leave for all health ministry officials

The government has canceled all types of leave for all the officials and staffs of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to tackle the dengue and flood situation of the country.

Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Secretary (coordination and reforms) of the Cabinet Division, disclosed the information at a press conference at the secretariat on Tuesday.

He informed that the government has also asked those doctors, who are attending different training programmes at present, to join their respective workplaces.

The government has temporarily postponed their training to cease the shortage of doctors in the hospitals.

Earlier on the day, an emergency meeting was held in this regard with Cabinet Secretary M Shafiul Alam in chair. Secretaries and high officials of the concerned ministries were present in the meeting.  

All the government officials were asked to keep their offices and stuffs clean during the meeting.

Sheikh Mujibur Rahman said, “So far 13,637 people have been infected with dengue in the country. Of the infected, 9,740 have left hospital and 3,847 have been receiving treatment in different hospitals.”

So far 8 people have died of dengue fever according to government statistics, he added.
