Newborn's body recovered from Magura hospital’s toilet

The body of an abandoned newborn baby was recovered from a toilet of Magura District Hospital on Tuesday.

Residential Medical Officer (RMO) of the hospital Bikash Kumar Shikder said, “The body of the newborn baby was recovered from inside a carton box, left abandoned at a toilet of the hospital’s old building around 8:30am today.”

He also informed that the identities of the parents or any other relatives of the baby have not been found.

Later the body has been handed over to the police, he added.

Confirming the incident, Magura Sadar Police Station sub-inspector (SI) Anwar Hossain said, “We have filed an unnatural death case with the police station.”

The body has been handed over to Anjuman Mofidul Islam for burial following necessary procedures, he added.
