Wild elephant kills youth in Rangamati

A youth was trampled to death in a wild elephant attack at Longdut area in Rangamati on Tuesday morning.
The deceased was identified as Shariful Islam, 25, son of Egdil Hossain, hailing from Jubolaxmipara village in Gulshakhali union of the upazila.
Relatives of the deceased said that a wild elephant suddenly attacked Shariful when he was going to mosque for Fazar prayers at the area this morning, leaving him critically injured.
Later, locals took the injured to Longdu Health Complex where duty doctor declared him dead.
Doctors of the Health Complex said Shariful died before he was taken to the health complex.
Abu Nasir, Chairman of Gulshakhali Union Parishad, confirmed the matter.
