Police headquarters (PHQ) has issued a prohibitory order against Dhaka South Jubo League President Ismail Hossain Samrat so that he can’t leave the country.

Several top officials of the PHQ, refusing to divulge their identities and ranks, confirmed this to Daily Sun on Tuesday.

They said the PHQ has already sent a letter to immigration police at the airports and land ports of the country in this regard.

Samrat has allegedly dug himself in at his office in the city’s Kakrail area to avoid arrest and is desperately looking for ways to leave the country, according to media reports.

Law enforcers have recently started a crackdown against casino runners in the big cities including the capital.

Several top leaders of Jubo League, the youth wing of Awami League (AL), were arrested for their alleged involvement in criminal activities including running illegal casino business.

Jubo League Dhaka South Organising Secretary Khalid Mahmud Bhuiyan, who is now also on a 7-day remand, was arrested from his Gulshan home on Wednesday for running a casino at a football club in the capital’s Fakirerpool area.

Later, on Friday, SM Golam Kibria Shamim alias GK Shamim, a contractor known to be a Jubo League leader, was also detained for his involvement in tender manipulation, extortion and running casinos. He was also put on a 10-day remand.
