DSCC issues show-cause notices to 21 councillors

The Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has issued separate show-cause notices to its 21 ward councillors for being absent in more than three consecutive board meetings without showing valid reason.

DSCC public relations officer Uttam Kumar Roy confirmed this to the daily sun on Sunday.

He said, “Some 19 councillors from general wards and 2 from reserved seats were served show-cause notices on October 23 as they remained absent in more than three consecutive board meetings without showing valid reason.”

They were asked to reply the notices within next 7 working days, he added.

Earlier on October 17, AKM Mominul Huq Sayeed alias casino Sayeed, councillor of ward-9 of the DSCC was removed from his post for being absent in meetings and staying abroad without proper permission.

The authorities took punitive action against councillor Sayeed following allegations of his links to illegal casinos business.
