Kader Khan, six others get death in MP Liton murder case

In the case filed for the killing of former Awami League MP Manjurul Islam Liton, a Gaibandha court sentenced seven people, including former Jatiya Party MP Dr Abdul Kader Khan, to death.

District and Sessions Judge Dilip Kumar Bhoumik, after examining records and witnesses, gave the judgment on Thursday.

The convicts are – former Jatiya Party (JP) MP Abdul Quader Khan, Mehedi Hasan, Shahin Mia, Anwarul Islam, Abdul Mannan, Shamsuzzoha and Chandan Kumar.

Subol Chandra Das, another accused, died in jail.

On November 19, the court ruled in the murder case on Thursday to deliver its decision.

On December 31, 2016, at his village home in Masterpara of Sundarganj upazila, Liton, a former Gaibandha-1 MP, was shot down by miscreants.

At the Sundarganj Police Station, Liton's sister filed a case against several men.

Detectives arrested Dr. Abdul Kader Khan from his home on February 21, 2017, former Jatiya Party MP from Gaibandha-1 constituency.

Five days later, he revealed his role in the killing to a jury. Police submitted an indictment sheet against eight people on April 30th, 2017, including Kader Khan.
