Sub-inspector arrested for raping woman on false promise of marriage

A sub-inspector (SI) of police was arrested for allegedly exploiting a woman sexually for months with a false promise of marriage from Taltola area in the capital’s Agargaon on Thursday night.

The detainee was identified as Abdur Rakib Khan Bappy, a SI of Mirpur Model Police Station.

Confirming this to media, inspector (investigation) of Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station Abul Kalam Azad said, “SI Rakib Hossain was arrested from a house after the victim sought help from the law enforcing agency by dialing the national emergency helpline 999.”
