Biswa Ijtema’s 1st phase Akheri Munajat begins

The concluding prayer (Akheri Munajat) of the first phase of three-day Biswa Ijtema, the second largest Muslim congregation after the Hajj, began on the banks of Turag River at Tongi in Gazipur on Sunday morning.

Maulana Jubair Hassan, Bangladeshi leader of Tabligh Jamaat, was conducting the concluding prayer seeking peace, happiness and wellbeing of the Muslim Ummah.

The prayer began at about 11:10 am.

Thousands of local and foreign devotees took part in the religious event to seek divine blessings of the Almighty Allah.

Meanwhile, 12 devotees have so far died due to old-age complications at the Ijtema venue.
