In order to protest against rapes in Bangladesh, several organizations established human chains at Shahbagh in the capital on Wednesday.

Protestors took to the streets of Shahbagh under the banner of 'Save Our Women-Bangladesh', a non-profit group, and numerous other radical groups to demand modification of the laws on rape and rapid rapist trials.

The groups have also called for a special court for rape cases and the death penalty for rapists.

The demonstrators were seen raising black flags marking the inability of the government to ensure the rapist was quickly punished.

After the incident of a brutal attack on a woman in Noakhali's Begumganj, protests erupted in the capital and across the world, after the culprits posted the video on social media.

The protesters in Dhaka and elsewhere in the country blamed the government as well as law enforcement agencies’ inaction, the culture of immunity and the flawed criminal justice system and claimed that all this informed the investigation processes leading to poor evidence management.
