At Mawa point in Louhoganj on Monday, the 33rd span of the 6.15-kilometer-long Padma Bridge will be built on the 3rd and 4th pillars.

4,950 meters of the bridge would be evident with the completion of the pillar.

On Monday morning, a floating crane with a 33rd span called One-C left Mawa Construction Yard. The engineers will position the span at any time of the day on the specified pillars, said project manager (main bridge) Dewan Md Abdul Kader.

Earlier, on October 11, the 32nd Padma Bridge span was installed.

The 6.15 km long bridge with a total of 41 spans will become visible in December and the entire Padma Bridge will be seen by the beginning of 2021, according to the Padma Bridge authorities.

After the independence of Bangladesh, initiated by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the Padma Bridge has become the largest construction infrastructure. Construction work with its own fund started in December 2014.

China Major Bridge Engineering Company (MBEC), a Chinese contractor company, is constructing the main bridge, and Sino Hydro Corporation of China is doing the river management.

There will be two parts of the 6.15 km long bridge across which roads and railways will be built.
