Members of Myanmar's Border Guard Police (BGP) reportedly picked up nine Bangladeshi fishermen from the Naf River in Cox's Bazar's Teknaf upazila.

The identities of the fishermen have not yet been verified, but they are all from Shah Porir Dwip, Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) officials said, citing local sources.

Local Union Parishad member Md Nurul Amin said the fishermen went to catch fish in the river on Tuesday morning.

The boat broke down and was floating in the river when they were picked up by a BGP team and taken to the Hassurata Border checkpoint in Myanmar, Amin added.
