Govt committed to ensure welfare of freedom fighters: Mostafiz

Minister for Primary and Mass Education Mostafizur Rahman has termed the freedom fighters as the greatest sons and daughters of the soil and the present government is commitment to ensure their welfare. 

"The freedom fighters have given us a country and a flag," he said while addressing a views-sharing meeting with freedoms fighters at the pourashava auditorium in Parbotipur upazila town of Dinajpur district yesterday afternoon as the chief guest. 

Presided over by Assistant Commander (Finance) of Parbotipur upazila command of Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangshad (BMS) valiant freedom fighter Selim Uddin Sarker, a large number of freedom fighters of the upazila participated in the meeting. 

The minister, also a valiant FF, said the nation should pay due honour to the freedom fighters to uphold true spirit of the War of Liberation as they fought against the Pakistani occupation forces putting their lives at stake in 1971 to liberate the country. 

"We have to work altogether under leadership of Prime Minsiter Sheikh Hasina for building a developed Sonar Bangla as dreamt by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to make independence meaningful for every citizen," he said.

Mostafiz called upon the freedom fighters to remain alert against the conspiracies being hatched to destabilise the country through conducting militant attacks by the defeated anti-liberation forces and establish permanent peace defeating all evil forces. 

Parbotipur UNO Tarafdar Mahmudur Rahman, President of upazila Awami League Hafizul Islam Pramanik, its Vice-president MA Wahab Sarker and General Secretary Rezaul Karim and valiant freedom fighter Reaz Mahmud, addressed, among others.
