On Monday, Cabinet Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam said the results of the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and 2020-equivalent exams will be released by 28 January.

A draft amendment to the Intermediate and Secondary Education Ordinance with a view to reporting the findings was previously approved by the cabinet.

Earlier on 7 October, Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni declared that due to the coronavirus pandemic, HSC and its equivalent exams would not take place this year.

The results, however, would be decided by averaging the results of students' Junior School Certificate (JSC) and Secondary School Certificate (SSC) tests, she said then.

All of the country's educational institutions declared the Covid-19 outbreak closed on March 18 of this year.

Later, the closure was extended in several phases until 16 January. Since that day, no classes have been held.

As well as the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and its related exams, the Ministry of Education has cancelled the final exams for primary and secondary level students.
