444 more cured from Covid-19 in Rajshahi division

A total of 444 more people were cured from Covid-19 in the division on Saturday, taking the total recovery cases to 88,194 since the pandemic began in March last year.

On the contrary, 163 more people have tested positive for the deadly virus in all eight districts of the division on the same day, taking the total number of infected cases to 95,231, said Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder, divisional director of health.

However, the new daily infection figure is one of the ever-lowest in recent days since the second wave hit the country around four months back. However, the previous day's infection cases were 67 here.

On the other hand, the death toll reached 1,584, including 657 in Bogura, 292 in Rajshahi with 176 in its city, and 163 in Natore, as six fresh cases of fatality were reported during the period, Dr Talukder added.

Besides, all the positive cases for Covid-19 have, so far, been brought under treatment while 21,689 were kept in isolation units of different hospitals for institutional supervision. Of them, 16,713 have by now been released.

On the other hand, 149 more people have been sent to home and institutional quarantine afresh while 431 others were released from isolation during the same time.

Of the total positive cases, the highest 59 were detected in Rajshahi, including 57 in its city, followed by 34 in Pabna, 22 in Bogura, 20 in Sirajganj, 16 in Natore, nine in Chapainawabganj, two in Naogaon and one in Joypurhat districts.

With the newly detected patients, the district-wise break-up of the total cases now stands at 27,083 in Rajshahi, including 21,806 in city, 5,476 in Chapainawabganj, 6,302 in Naogaon, 7,970 in Natore, 4,471 in Joypurhat, 20,950 in Bogura, 10,795 in Sirajganj and 12,184 in Pabna.

A total of 1,09,844 people have, so far, been kept under quarantine since March 10 last year to prevent the community transmission of the deadly coronavirus (COVID-19).

Of them, 1,05,082 have, by now, been released as they were given clearance certificates after completing their 14-day quarantine.
