Prime Minister's ICT Advisor Sajeeb Wazed Joy yesterday expressed optimism that the people of the country would stand on their own feet by building a 'Sonar Bangla' as dreamt by Bangabandhu.

"Our Awami League government has been striving to materialize the dream of Bangabandhu. The dream means that we won't be dependent on other country or nation ... we would make our development by dint of our merit and labour," she said.

The PM's ICT advisor said this while inaugurating an IT Training Institute at Royganj in northern Sirajganj district through videoconferencing from the Prime Minister's Office here.

Joy said such training institutes are being built across the country to make the youth force self-reliant. "The present Awami League government under the farsighted plan of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is giving a scope to the people to stand on their own feet," he said.

Pointing out that the present government has given utmost importance to education and training, he said he is proud of opening of such an institute.

"Such an institute would help the people to stand on their own feet, increase their income and bring a change in their personal and family life," Joy commented.

PM's Media Advisor Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, State Minister for Post and Telecommunication Tarana Halim, State Minister for ICT Division Junaid Ahmed Palak and Project Director of a2i Programme Kabir Bin Anwar spoke at the function, moderated by Principal Secretary Md Abul Kalam Azad.

The IT training institute in Royganj is being established as part of a project of the Prime Minister's Office. The scheme has been undertaken to improve the living standard of the people of ethnic minority community living outside the Chittagong Hill Tracts.
