840 Rajuk flats at Uttara to be handed over in Dec

Rajdhani Unnayan Kartipakkha (RAJUK) will hand over 840 flats in 10 buildings at Uttara apartment project to the buyers in December this year.

Housing and Public Works Minister Engineer Mosharraf Hossain disclosed this at an agreement signing ceremony at RAJUK boardroom in the city yesterday.

The agreement was signed between RAJUK and Standard Chartered Bank to offer loan facilities to the buyers of Uttara flats.

RAJUK Chairman M Bazlul Karim and Standard Chartered Bank Chief Executive Officer Abrar A Anwar signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations while the housing and public works minister attended the function as chief guest.

The agreement was signed as a sequel to a memorandum of understanding (MoU) the two parties signed on July 13 to offer loans at a rate of 8.5 percent interest.

Speaking on the occasion, Engineer Mosharraf Hossain said the apartment project was undertaken 16 years ago at the advice of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in view of land constraint.

He said, land has been earmarked at Uttara, Jhilmil and Purbachal project area to construct apartments. He added more than 15,000 flats will be constructed in three blocks of Uttara.

More 12,000 flats will be constructed in Jhilmil and 70,000 to 75,000 flats in Purbachal, he said.

The minister said negotiations are going on with Malaysia and hoped that the construction of flats will begin soon in those projects.
