PM places wreaths at Bangabandhu shrine

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today paid homage to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing a wreath at his shrine as she arrived here on a two-day visit.

After laying the wreath, the prime minister stood in solemn silence for some time as a mark of respect to the memory of Bangabandhu and offered prayers seeking eternal blessings for the the architect of the independence, who was brutally killed along with along with most of his family members on August 15, 1975.

She also prayed for Bangamata Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib and other martyrs of August 15, 1975 massacre and sought divine blessings for continued peace, progress and prosperity of the nation.

Awami League presidium member Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim, Sheikh Helal MP, PM's nephew Rezwan Siddiqui Bobby, his spouse and two kids and other family members joined the premier during the ceremony and prayers.

Sheikh Hasina arrived here this morning on a two-day visit to open the National Rover Moot. After opening the Moot, Sheikh Hasina arrived at her ancestral home where she will stay overnight.

She will return Dhaka Friday afternoon.
