A Malaysian ship with relief materials anchored at the outer anchorage of Kutubdia island, Cox's Bazar, for the Rohingya people who recently took shelter in Bangladesh.

The cabinet was apprised of the latest development on the aid that came from the Southeast Asian nation, the cabinet secretary told newsmen after the weekly meeting, reports UNB.

With his personal initiative, the prime minister of Malaysia sent those relief materials.

The cabinet secretary said the relief materials will be brought to the shore through lighterage ships.

The relief items will be distributed among Rohingyas in their Cox's Bazar camps, he added.

Earlier, Malaysia’s Star newspaper reported that the Rohingya aid ship Nautical Aliya entered Bangladeshi waters and is now heading to Cox's Bazar.

Quoting crews, the newspaper said Bangladesh Navy told them that the ship will be provided with barges to offload the ship's aid cargo.

The Nautical Aliya was previously sailing towards Chittagong with about 2,100 tonnes of aid meant for Rohingya refugees in the country.
