Blogger Rajib killing: Condemned convict, another held in city

Members of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Unit (CTTC) of Dhaka Metropolitan police (DMP) arrested two people, including the death-row convict in blogger Rajib murder case, from the city’s Uttara area on Monday.

The arrestees were condemned convict Redwanul Azad Rana, 30, and his associate Ashraf, a suspected militant.

Tipped off, a team of CTTC unit of DMP raided the area and arrested them, said Deputy Commissioner (Media) of DMP Masudur Rahman.

On 31 December, 2015, a court here sentenced two people, including Redwanul, to death in a case filed over the murder of secular blogger Ahmed Rajib Haider.

Rajib was stabbed to death near his house at Mirpur Palash Nagar in the capital on 15 February, 2013.
