The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC) today rejected a plea of Bangladesh Garments Manufactures and Exporters Association (BGMEA) seeking review of its order to demolish the trade body's headquarters at capital's Hatirjheel area.

The three-member Appellate Division panel headed by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha passed the order this morning, clearing all the legal bars to demolish the building, termed by the apex court as the cancer for the scenic Hatirjheel project.

BGMEA counsel advocate Kamrul Haque Siddiqui however, submitted an oral plea seeking three years time for removing or demolishing the building.

The court asked them to submit the plea in written and said it would hold hearing on that on Thursday (March 9).
