Bangladesh will file an application with the International Court of Justice for taking steps for handing over to Bangladesh the 195 Pakistani soldiers, who committed crimes during the country’s Liberation War.

“We will file the application as Bangladesh still wants to try the 195 Pakistani soldiers,” Law Minister Anisul Huq said at a programme in Dhaka today.

“We will place the matter before the cabinet soon,” the minister said.

In 2015, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan said the government would take initiatives to bring the 195 Pakistani army personnel from the country and try them for war crimes in Bangladesh.

Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIIS) organised the programme on international recognition of the national genocide day.
