2 militants arrested in Rajshahi, Jhenaidah

Baghmara OC Nasim Ahmed said that Mahmud had returned home after a long time and started regrouping JMB members.

Police have arrested a listed militant from Baghmara of Rajshahi who took part in atrocities of JMB commander Siddiqul Islam alias Bangla Bhai in 2004.

Mahmud Hassan, 50, was arrested from his house at Ramarama village under Goalkandi Union on Friday morning, our Rajshahi correspondent reported.

Baghmara OC Nasim Ahmed said that Mahmud had returned home after a long time and started regrouping JMB members. He was sent to jail via a court in the afternoon in a case filed in 2004 for torturing people.

Meanwhile, Kaliganj police in Jhenaidah arrested a member of Allah’r Dal militant group early on Friday.

Laltu Sheikh, 25, was earlier arrested in November 2009, according to our Jhenaidah correspondent. OC Aminul Islam said he had been shown arrested in that case.
