Pro-BNP mayors of Rajshahi, Sylhet suspended, again

Rajshahi City Corporation mayor Mosaddek Hossain Bulbul and Sylhet City Corporation mayor Ariful Haque Chowdhury have been suspended once again.
The government's local government division issued two separate circulars on Sunday hours after they went to their respective offices to resume duties after their reinstatement by the court following two-year legal battle.
Both the mayors were elected with backing of the main opposition party, Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) in 2013.
Although Ariful could sit in his mayoral chair for a while, Bulbul could not even enter the mayoral office in Rajshahi as he found his office locked this morning.
The local government division, meanwhile, issued the circular suspending them.
Ariful was suspended following his indictment in a case on 22 March, according to the circular.
The government also suspended Bulbul as a court accepted charges against him in another case, the circular said.
