Traffic advisory: Vehicles not allowed through 25 points in city on Thursday

Around 2,500 additional vehicles will enter Dhaka tomorrow carrying over 200,000 people from across the country

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has issued a traffic advisory ahead of the Bangladesh Islamic Foundation conference slated for Thursday.

“Vehicles will not be allowed to move through 25 points in Dhaka city from 12pm to evening for the grand rally of the 42nd anniversary of Bangladesh Islamic Foundation,” DMP Commissioner Asaduzzaman Miah told reporters at a briefing on Wednesday.

“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the conference at 3pm at Suhrawardy Udyan.

 

 

“So, please do not go to New Market, Bashundhara City Shopping Complex, Gausia, Elephant Road and other adjacent markets tomorrow, if it is not urgent,” he added.

The crossings include Bijay Sarani, Khamarbari, Bangla Motor, Moghbazar, Paribagh, Sakura point, Mintu Road (east end), Officers’ Club, Kakrail Church, Shilpakala, Matsya Bhaban, Kadam Fuara, High Court, Bakshibazar, Nilkhet, Palashi, Kataban and Shahbagh.

Around 2,500 additional vehicles will enter Dhaka tomorrow carrying over 200,000 people from across the country to join the rally.
